The Visual Information Designer
designs, creates, develops, or updates media which convey intended communications
of the training content to enhance student skill
acquisition. The following are some of the tasks and
activities:
Evaluates existing course
content and previous student learning experiences to
recommend enhancements to visual aids
Studies the application of
graphics in the fulfillment of the learning
objectives of course material
Conducts gap analysis between
existing graphic standards or lack thereof
Identifies initial visual information
needs when standard is lacking or out of date
Develops flow diagrams and
story boards from team input, existing courses or
material
Supports department wide
compliance of media standards, processes and
procedures.
Participates in the design and
development of long term graphic and media
deployment goals across
projects, teams and departments
Creates or modifies Graphical
User Interface (GUI)
Creates or maintains a naming
convention for published graphics
Trains personnel in using and
maintaining the standards, providing a certification
upon satisfactory completion and skill
demonstration
Utilizes new and developing,
nontraditional distance learning
methodologies/technologies
Designs, prepares, and produces
templates and creates electronic files for
employees, contractors and vendors
Plans printed material, graphics placement and layout, coordinating
production and delivery with local printers, and
meeting deadlines.
Works directly with
contractors, graphic designers, and private
companies coordinating the creation, and production
of media products
