The Technical Writer assists in
collecting and organizing information required for
preparation of content from existing training manuals
and updates, text books, training videos, user guides, training materials,
installation guides, proposals, and reports.
Evaluates existing content and previous
customer and/or student learning experiences through
evaluations and surveys
Recommends enhancements or
solutions negative user experiences
Gathers, analyzes, and composes
new technical information
Creates FAQs, indexes, glossary
for technical information for content
Conducts industry research to ensure
the use of proper technical terminology for customer
relative to similar products and protocols
Translates technical
information into clear, readable documents to be
used by technical and non-technical personnel.
Organizes course content and
manages content contributors as defined by
Instructional Systems Designer
Interviews key individuals for
input into the project or learning objectives
Identifies gaps and defines data needed from subject matter experts,
managers and
technicians
Assigns tasks to Visual
Information Specialists and Graphic Artists in
creating and modifying educational courses and their
related content per Instructional Systems Designer
timeline
Participates in special
projects, needs analysis, work group facilitation,
and other related initiatives relative to content
development
Follows
internal guidelines for Change Management protocol
Studies the learning objectives
of courses of instruction and the subject-matter
content, texts, technical manuals, and other course
materials
Utilizes new and developing,
nontraditional distance learning
methodologies/technologies, including but not
limited to, web-based, internet, video-conferencing,
CD/DVD, and blended learning training and
development options.
